The final of New Japan’s Best of the Super Juniors tournament is set following Friday’s show.
The unexpected finale comes down to Master Wato and Titan, who will wrestle on Sunday at Ota Ward City Gymnasium to crown this year’s tournament winner.
Titan submitted El Desperado in the main event of Friday’s show in Tokyo after overcoming a knee injury. Titan climbed to the top for a double foot stomp to the floor, but Desperado got out of the way and thus, Titan’s knee was weakened for Numero Dos but came back to win using Llave Inmortal.
Prior to that, Master Wato had one of the best singles matches of his career as he beat Speedball Mike Bailey. The kicks from Bailey were incredible to watch in this match, specifically, his side kicks to the face of Wato. Wato sold his arm throughout the match and kicked out from Ultima Weapon. After taking a barrage of kicks, Wato came out of the corner with a spinning roundhouse kick and used the Tsutenkaku German Suplex Hold to win the match and punch his ticket to the final.
This is Master Wato’s fourth Best of the Super Juniors tournament and finished second in the B Block with fourteen points.
It is the second BOSJ tournament for Titan, who finished with eight points last year. Master Wato defeated Titan in a round-robin match in the 2022 tournament.
Sunday’s final will stream at 5:30 a.m. ET on New Japan World from Ota Ward City Gymnasium.
