Tama Tonga provides an update on Tanga Loa.

Prior to NJPW’s Best of the Super Juniors final show, the company pushed out the announcement that multiple talents had been pulled from the event and one of those names was Tanga Loa.

NJPW noted that Loa sustained an injury to his right knee. On the latest Tama’s Island podcast, Tama Tonga provided an update on his brother and shared that he suffered a torn MCL. Tanga Loa successfully underwent surgery ‘a couple months ago’ but is out for the remainder of 2022.

We got our other brother Tanga Loa but he’s been injured, tore his MCL and just had surgery a couple months ago so he’ll be out for the rest of the year but he’s making progress. He isn’t able to run yet but, he’s able to walk and do some stuff. Just the running part is the hardest part right now. But he’s doing well, he’s moving forward. Looking forward to having him come back.

On 10/10 at NJPW’s Declaration of Power show, Tama Tonga is challenging Jay White for the IWGP World Heavyweight Championship. Next month at NJPW Battle Autumn, Hikuleo is getting his shot at Karl Anderson’s NEVER Openweight Title.
