Jon Moxley’s first major independent date has been announced as he will be working for Northeast Wrestling this August.

On Sunday night, the popular independent group announced that Moxley will face Pentagon Jr. at their “Prison Break” show on Friday, August 16th at the Majed J. Nesheiwat Convention Center (the former Mid Hudson Civic Center) in Poughkeepsie, New York. They have also announced Rey Fenix, L.A. Park, and Dustin Rhodes for the show.

Moxley left WWE in April and debuted for All Elite Wrestling on Saturday night at “Double or Nothing” where he attacked Chris Jericho and Kenny Omega after the main event at the MGM Grand Garden Arena.

Immediately following the appearance, AEW announced Moxley had signed a multi-year deal with the group. His first match with the promotion is scheduled for June 29th in Daytona Beach, Florida at FYTER FEST.

Tickets range from $37-102 and will feature an autograph session at 5:30 pm, which will include Moxley’s wife and WWE commentator Renee Young.

I hate this. I feel like if AEW wants to let their performers wrestle other places…fine, even though it is dumb. They shouldnt be wrestling another contracted talent though.

Independent contractors…
Plus, with no TV currently being produced, they have to make a living somehow.

I believe it’s been stated that Moxley is full time with AEW, once he finishes some other dates he agreed to.

I would assume most people will be done working elsewhere after October 1st.

Is Pentagon actually signed with AEW?

I read that he’s AEW exclusive in the States, but who knows.

Good point, I think Lucha Bros are exclusive to AEW, I believe they were written out of MLW on their last episode.

I’m also wondering about the status of MJF, Brian Pullman JR. Ace Romeo and Jimmy Havoc as they are used regularly by MLW.

I enjoy MLW, but I’m wondering whether they will be injury angles, Loser leaves town matches in the very near future

The last I had read, Pentagon was still not exclusive because of all the legal issues with Lucha Underground. He can work anywhere he wants but can’t actually sign an exclusive contract anywhere.

That’s how being an independent contractor in wrestling works. Even in the 70’s and 80’s, wrestlers would show up in different territories.

If I hire a plumber, he can also take on other contracts…same thing
