Several weeks ago, NXT’s Leon Ruff won the North American Championship from Johnny Gargano and fast forward to present day, he and NXT referee Aja Smith have gotten engaged. Aja announced the news on Twitter that Ruff proposed to her. The two have been together dating back to Ruff’s time in EVOLVE.
Aja Smith, formerly known as Aja Perera joined WWE’s Performance Center class as a referee back in February. She is the first African-American full-time female referee in the company’s history.

This coming weekend at NXT TakeOver: WarGames on the WWE Network, Ruff is scheduled to defend his North American Championship in a three-way match against Damian Priest and Johnny Gargano. As of this writing, here’s the updated lineup for TakeOver: WarGames:
