Great stuff John, this was a tremendous fight and a fantastic look back.
I enjoyed the profile John! I wasn’t able to watch the fight because of work but I remember my friend texting round by round updates. It sounded crazy how badly Sonnen was dominating Anderson. Was totally shocked when my friend texted me Anderson won. Huge fight for everyone involved!
This was fantastic, John! I’d love to hear more of these profile pieces on various MMA subjects. I know a ton of work goes into these, so I just wanted you to know it was appreciated.
I’d love to see profiles on some of the crazier fights and rivalries in Pride FC. Also, we hear so much about how Inoki-ism hurt pro wrestling in Japan in the early 2000s, but I’d love to hear it from the other side—-profiling the impact pro wrestlers’ had on early 2000s MMA.
Keep up the good work as usual.
This was great. I can’t believe it’s been 10 years.
This was so great, I loved it
I do enjoy these profiles.
Did have a question: What happens if Sonnen wins? He still tests positive after the fight. Is it a simple act of Silva gets his title back (a la Cormier & Jones)? The seven year difference between to two leads my to think no. Plus, just reading wiki, it seems Chael was suspended, got it reduced, and then got it unreduced. So maybe it is unclear.
