John Pollock andWai Tingreview the season premiere of WWE Raw featuring Brock Lesnar’s destruction of Dominick.
On the season premiere of Raw, Brock Lesnar returned for a major angle involving Rey Mysterio and son Dominick, Hulk Hogan and Ric Flair set up a five-on-five match for Crown Jewel, Seth Rollins defends the Universal title against Rusev, the return of Bobby Lashley and Lana, and The Fiend closes the show heading into Hell in a Cell.
Plus, we chat the new announce team on Raw consisting of Vic Joseph, Dio Maddin, and Jerry Lawler, the new theme song, a new set, and the return of pyro.
Rey costs Brock the match on Friday which leads to them booking Brock vs. Rey at Crown Jewel 2. Brock beats the ish out of him, which leads Rey to questioning whether Brock is too much for him so he goes to bring Cain in as his surprise. Especially after hearing Heyman’s backstage promo about him not being able to control Brock since he’s in “fight mode”, some of the things her was saying led me to believe that he is actually talking about Cain. Maybe he’s pushing Vince hard to get Cain if he has to lose The Fiend to Fox? And I’d trust Cain to be booked by Heyman a lot more than over on SD.
The Brock/Mysterio stuff was great but it doesn’t make a lot of sense based on everything leading into the show. Why book Seth vs. Mysterio last week and then have Brock’s beatdown of Mysterio which has nothing to do with the Universal title match? Unnecessarily messy.
Vince really can’t wrap his mind around Lana being with Rusev. Hates seeing them together. Rusev looked like a total clown standing there for 4 minutes. At least Lana enjoyed that kiss though. Went all in…
I hope that they explain that Brock took him out with the intention of facing Seth himself, and then wanting to go to Friday and beat Kofi as well to become the Undisputed champion of sorts. The fact that he was being questioned by the police could suggest that he was tied up with law enforcement and wasn’t able to go through with his plan.
