Cassie Lee further opens up about her struggles in WWE and wanting out prior to her release in April.
This past April, Cassie Lee (Peyton Royce) alongside her tag partner Jessica McKay (Billie Kay) were released from WWE. Lee and McKay have gone on to launch their ‘Off Her Chops’ podcast and have done several interviews discussing their future plans and what they have in store for their respective and collective post-WWE careers.
Cassie was recently a guest on Insight with Chris Van Vliet and she was candid about how unhappy she was in WWE following the split of The IIconics. She mentioned that around the time Jon Huber (Brodie Lee) passed away was when she noticed how much she was struggling at work.
After a certain period of time, Lee decided that she was going to request her release from the company but it was former Raw Women’s Champion Rhea Ripley who talked her out of doing so.
I really struggled from when Brodie of all people had to talk me off the ledge because I was about to walk into Talent Relations, ‘I don’t wanna do this anymore. I’m so unhappy’ and she kind of talked me off the ledge. But yeah, I was unhappy, so the release I think was a blessing in disguise. I was unhappy and I was so close to asking for my release but, I never pulled that trigger.
Both Cassie Lee and Jessica McKay are awaiting their green cards so they work. Lee shared that she trains once a week at the Flatbacks Wrestling school in Florida which is co-owned by Tyler Breeze and Shawn Spears.
