Whats up guys
So impact just announced Taya vs Tessa cor the World title. I was wondering what you all thought. I kno its Impact, but im wondering what yall think about just the idea behind having 2 two women fight for a world title in a non shimmer like promotion
I think a lot of it depends on their size and whether or not they look like they could hold their own against male performers. Tessa and Taya both have some muscle mass on them and look intimidating enough to hold their own against most men on the Impact roster.
If you were going to match someone up like Madison Rayne against Brian Cage, it doesn’t work. But with the right build, I feel like Nia Jax, Bianca Belair, or Rhea Ripley could fight for a world title against one another or match up well with several main event male performers like Ricochet, AJ Styles, Daniel Bryan, Miz, etc in a world title program.
It’s an interesting idea - but my only concern with Tessa’s title reign is that it really makes the Women’s Championship (is it still Knockouts division? I honestly have no idea), seem “less than”.
Once Tessa eventually loses it, I imagine it will be a long time before another women ever challenges for the Impact World Championship, if ever. In short “things go back to normal / status quo”, and will make it feel like the whole thing was just a gimmick.
Rightly or wrongly so, but that to me downplays the importance of her reign, and what it was going for. And again, it makes the Women’s division seem secondary.
Maybe it’s just the nature of some Australian promotions being “open gender” (for lack of a better word) but this doesn’t worry me at all.
Notably, PWA from Sydney has had Women challenge for the Men’s Heavyweight Championship & Men can challenge for the Women’s Championship.
What ever happened with the Tessa is a racist stuff? Swept away?
Sadly, I belive so.
@Chris_Thunder has it happened two women fighting for the world title?
I dont really have a problem with it. They’re two of the biggest stars on the show.
@Ari_Kevork_Daghlian, as in has their ever been a female challenger to a female champion of a male world championship, no. Well at least not to my knowledge.
HOWEVER I did manage to find a tag team case of a Man & Woman Champions Vs a Man & Woman challangers:
PWA (2017/05/21)
Rooty Hill RSL (Rooty Hill, NSW)
PWA Tag Team Championship match
The Choc Blockers (Big Fudge & Shazza McKenzie) (c)
Verses
The Four Nations (Jack Bonza & Madison Eagles)
PWA « Events Database « CAGEMATCH - The Internet Wrestling Database
Well this opinion might not be popular.
But i dont see the point of having two titles one for women and one for me if theres going to be a mix match.
Just have one title then.
It has nothing to do with the mens being better.
Look last year at mania…womens was the hotter program and they went with that.
You just look at the story telling and characters/performers involved.
