The NXT tapings from Wednesday night featured an announcement from Paul Levesque that the NXT title would be decided in a match at TakeOver next month.
The title was declared vacant after Tommaso Ciampa underwent neck surgery last week and is out for an unspecified time.
Levesque stated that a fatal five-way match involving Adam Cole, Velveteen Dream, Aleister Black, Matt Riddle, and Ricochet would take place with the winner facing Johnny Gargano for the vacant title at TakeOver.
The match took place with Cole winning, so it will be Adam Cole vs. Johnny Gargano for the vacant title with the added stipulation that it will be 2-of-3 falls in Brooklyn at the Barclays Center.
