Khan opens up about his negotiations with Jade Cargill.

The newest signee to join WWE was former AEW TBS Champion Jade Cargill. She kicked off her on-screen career with All Elite Wrestling and became the first-ever and longest-reigning TBS Champion in company history.

Cargill made the media rounds following her WWE signing being made public and she expressed that the decision was something she went back and forth on over the ‘past couple months.’ AEW President Tony Khan further touched on Cargill’s decision to leave the company during the WrestleDream media scrum.

Khan stated that he did negotiate with Cargill and he made a ‘big and fair’ offer. He added that Cargill asked for a bigger offer so he went higher and he thought that would seal the deal. He was surprised that Cargill did not rejoin the company because he went much higher than what she originally asked for.

He reiterated that he wanted to give Cargill a classy sendoff from AEW and she’s always welcome in the company.

I think that Tony has a hard time accepting that people are going to want to jump if its not solely about money. I think there are multiple reasons why talent may jump ranging from money to possible opponents to where they slot on the depth chart to fulfilling a childhood dream which AEW won’t see the benefit of for about 10-20 more years. Either way, this is going to happen both ways, and as a fan I love it. In two months we are going to see/have seen Edge to AEW, Jade to WWE, and possibly Punk to WWE. This is what I liked best about the attitude era when WCW was still kicking.

Jim Ross has always said (on his podcast) that there are only two reasons why a talent maybe unhappy. “Cash & Creative!”
