The mayor of London is looking to host WrestleMania. 

Sadiq Khan, Mayor of London, tweeted out that if he is re-elected next Thursday, he’ll be looking to bring a number of events to London such as WWE’s WrestleMania, NFL’s Superbowl and the NBA to the city. 

Khan’s tweet was met with a response from WWE Chief Content Officer Paul ‘Triple’ Levesque who wrote, “Let’s talk”. 

London is already the sporting capital of the world.

If I’m re-elected next Thursday – we’ll go even further.

We’ll look to bring WrestleMania, Superbowl and the NBA to London, and put together another bid for the 2040 Olympics.

Just what we needed, another khan.

Conventional wisdom has been that the cost of an overseas Wrestlemania would be so high that the site fee would have to be astronomical and probably not worth it for the city. Unless that city is Riyadh…

But maybe TKO would be a little more willing to play ball as far as cutting costs (i.e. using more locals and not flying over a million behind-the-scenes folks)?
