Io Shirai vs Mercedes Martinez vs Io Shirai should be a great match

If the ref thought that Johnny Gargano had hit Ruff, shouldn’t he have disqualified Theory ?

The funny thing about this episode of UpNXT for me was that I was catching up on some back catalogue podcasts and I listened to their Karate Kid Review yesterday, only for them to bring it up today :joy:

Nothing sums up wrestling fans more than people turning on Kross after 5 minutes. Absolutely ridiculous

No one is turning on him after 5 minutes. This is the history with him. The character is there and most people see some kind of potential, but then he gets in the ring and it just doesnt cut it. He’s very slow and plodding. I’m still a fan and I wish he could put it all together, but it isnt all there yet.

I think that is exacerbated by him being on NXT where work rate is typically much higher, so him being slower stands out even more. He is probably someone that would do better on the main roster.

I agree. I basically see Randy Orton 2.0 when I look at him.

I’m sure he can put up a good match with a good dance partner.

Yeah, I really think Keith Lee was the wrong kind opponent for him and that’s kind of set him off on a negative path (especially not being able to defend the title at all), but the character is still cool and I have a feeling throwing him up against a cruiserweight like Escobar could fix some of those initial reactions to his work.

On another topic, it’s been a while since I’ve been as excited to see a 1 on 1 match on American TV as I am for Gargano-Kushida, which should be phenomenal. Hard to know what we’re getting out of the two Dusty finals yet, but damn do we have a really strong top-3 matches for Takeover.

Davey Portman : “I’m done with him. He’s not doing it for me” - if that’s not someone turning on him, I dunno what is

They should be delighted if he’s Randy Orton 2.0. That would be some career

I mean that is just someone giving his opinion, nothing more.

I actually like Kross a lot but he’s still pretty green compared to a lot of the talent on NXT. But he has a great look, can act and talk and seems to have his character down - he’d be perfect for the main roster IMO

Scarlett used to wrestle in TNA, I don’t know why she is not in the ring in NXT.

I thought his match with Priest was decent. Other than that he’s only really had squash matches and wrestled injured against Lee. I don’t expect him to be a great worker, that’s not his role so that’s not what I judge him on but he’s not really had a chance to show much anyway which isn’t necessarily a bad thing. He’s supposed to be a dominant monster, squash matches make more sense than going 50/50 with every wrestler in every match.
