William Regal issued a statement regarding his time in AEW, which has officially ended.

Regal posted a statement noting that his tenure in AEW came to an end on Thursday after being written off the program several weeks ago when he was attacked by MJF following Full Gear.

Yesterday was my last official day with @AEW. I’d like to thank @TonyKhan, Megha and all the hard working crew. Contrary to people who’ve never spoken to me or have their information from people who don’t know me or are trying to make themselves noticed,I had a lovely time..(1/2)

.(2/2) ….working there and had a great time. Lots of talented Wrestlers, and lovely people to work for. To my fellow BCC members, it was a special, albeit brief few months but it cemented our already strong friendship. To everyone there, thank you for welcoming me. Best wishes.

Tony Khan spoke on a media call prior to ROH Final Battle, confirming Regal’s pending departure and would be returning to WWE, although with the provision that he won’t appear on camera in 2023.

After being released by WWE in January, Regal debuted for AEW at the Revolution pay-per-view in March and formed the Blackpool Combat Club with Bryan Danielson, Jon Moxley, Claudio Castagnoli, and Wheeler Yuta.

Khan stated on the conference call with media that Regal approached Khan and chief legal officer Megha Parekh regarding his contract with AEW and if they would opt not to renew the option on his contract so that Regal could work with his son, Bailey Matthews a.k.a. Charlie Dempsey in NXT.

Will Regal be happy at Vince returning? Did they have a good relationship or was he the reason he left?
