The main event of the 1/11 episode of NXT 2.0 saw AJ Styles and Grayson Waller go one-on-one. After weeks of back and forth and appearing on one another’s respective brands, Styles defeated Waller with the ‘Phenomenal Forearm’. Post-match, Styles introduced the returning L.A. Knight who has not appeared on NXT TV since December. Knight had been involved on-screen with Waller dating back to Halloween Havoc.

There was a singles match between Xyon Quinn and Santos Escobar. The stipulation was that the winner would obtain the managerial services of Elektra Lopez. She low-blowed Quinn during the match to assist Escobar to victory.

At New Year’s Evil, Von Wagner ambushed Andre Chase and then proceeded to ‘attack fans’ who were sitting in the ‘Chase University student section’. As a result, Wagner’s suspension was announced during tonight’s broadcast but later in the show, it was stated that Wagner’s suspension had been lifted and his fine was paid.
The 2022 men’s Dusty Rhodes Tag Team Classic tournament begins on 1/18. Malik Blade and Edris Enofé secured their spot in the tournament. They met Harland and Joe Gacy in a play-in match and Harland got his team disqualified after refusing to break the referee’s five count.
Cameron Grimes alerted North American Champion Carmelo Hayes that he is coming after his title. Grimes picked up a win on tonight’s show over Damon Kemp (Bobby Steveson), the brother of Raw’s Gable Steveson. Diamond Mine’s Malcolm Bivens was tuned into the match.

Tony D’Angelo scored a win over Pete Dunne in their ‘Crowbar on a Pole’ match. This was Dunne’s first one-on-one televised loss since February 2021.
