Britt Baker suspended

Fightful reporting bc she bad mouthed MJF and his girlfriend told
Him and they had a confrontation

This company is useless when it comes to these kind of issues. Say what you want, but Tony Kahn hiring MJF girlfriend, probably as part of his clause to return is what the issue is. Why does she even have a job here?

And now you have her causing issues and getting Brett suspended, it’s similar to that CM punk thing. They just have no ability to manage these people and he needs to stop hiring people that are married to people in the company for no reason other than that if they don’t deserve a job.

It’s amazing how fast this company can turn you off watching them. Mercedes has already turned me off and now you have MJF doing the same thing with their behavior.

Do you know what happened? Because you seem to have decided whose fault it is. And to nobody’s surprise, it’s the person (Alicia) who you badmouthed when she got hired in the first place.

I guess there is always a chance that this is a work, but from what I read it really doesn’t look like it.

I understand it’s wrestling and there are always going to be incidents to varying degrees when you have so many strong personalities, but man is this not what they need right now.

I would argue the company did a great job.

AEW has a history of letting things fester, to the point where it damaged the company so badly, they haven’t fully recovered. With this, they addressed it, had Britt do her buisness to benefit the company, fined and suspended her. Good. Whatever was said is irrelevant. She was found to be in the wrong and AEW did something about it.

And I know this was discussed before, but Alicia Atout joins a list of people who were likely brought in because of who they knew, so to me, she doesn’t deserve any backlash for that. She’s never been bad at her job.

Is there a non-paywalled article with some sort of details…would be nice to see.

I won’t make comments on nepotism hires in wrestling, but for a company and industry where talking shit is part of the game, talking shit when NOT on TV is a suspendable act and a way to manage backstage behavior and how they’ve chosen to handle backstage incidents and issues. :woman_shrugging:

The ghosts of Phil will haunt this company for a while longer.

You very well could be right, but I think we need to know what Britt actually said before determining that she was rightly or wrongly reprimanded.

If she said something that was way out of line, then I agree with you. If she said something completely within her right and MJF made a power play, I disagree. Again, its all about the details that none of us appear to know at the moment.

Meh, honestly I’d be fine if they just got rid of Baker at this point. She’s seemingly got worse in the ring and they have a lot more talented women’s wrestlers now. She’s not worth the headache. I think everyone knows how she treated Thunder Rosa.

And just dump Cole too while you’re at it. He’s damaged goods

How is AEW hiring a girl who’s barely on TV affecting your viewing experience?

She has a job bc of who she’s dating. If she wasn’t with MJF no way they hire her.

Now she’s causing issues backstage and obviously backed by MJF.

I dislike this kind of nepotism

It’s not - but it makes me dislike MJF more and not want to see them

She worked the very first Double or Nothing and did stuff for MLW in the past. It’s not like they put someone on TV who has zero experience.

It’s Baker who needs to grow up.

Is there more info than what’s here? How are we drawing any conclusions of who’s at fault?

Basically Baker talked shit, Atout heard about it and confronted her. The “disciplinary committee” investigated and punished Baker.

Yup. But remember MJF and Alicia are tied together so they won’t blame her bc he’s a star.

Just like Tony did for a long time with Punk

That’s actually the opposite of what AEW did with Punk. They chose to keep Jungle Boy around.

Shockingly the backstage issues didn’t disappear with Punk gone. So stunning

Speaking in generalities, because we don’t know what happened specifically, this is fine with me. People in all different careers get suspended for not being professional. For that matter, many people don’t even get that “second chance“ before getting let go. Not going to knock a company for trying to curtail unprofessionalism.

Yeah it doesn’t seem like a big deal to me on the surface. There was an argument, someone got punished, to me it’s assuring that AEW at least acted on it as it happened.

Jcup is dropping that Britt was blamed more than she could have been bc it was MJF. WON is saying most were sympathetic to Baker.

We have spoken to some near the situation that MJF entered the women’s locker room to have the conversation. This is a situation that will have two very different sides to it. We’ve asked why MJF was not also suspended and were told an investigation was conducted and numerous witnesses were interviewed and the suspension was decided on.

The claim internally from AEW was that the suspension led to one sides version of the events being supported, though we have spoken to talent that claim otherwise.

Yup as suspected. Just replace MJF with Punk. He can do no wrong and either can his GF

If this is truthful, the “male talent entering the female locker room to have a conversation over shit-talking gossip, bullying, and/or slander” is a major issue.

Regardless of how truthful any of these stories are, it’s a 100% fact that there are far better and more appropriate venues to have potentially tense or difficult conversations besides a communal, gendered locker room.

Suspend Baker for talking junk, suspend MJF for entering (what is conceived of as) a safe space specifically designated for female talent. There are two wrongs here. Different wrongs, but both should be punishable IF ANY OF THIS IS TRUE!!!
