Not saying he would have lost, simply pointing out that the majority does not necessarily support conservatism. I mean his favor ability ratings are also awful.
It was never a small fringe group it just isn’t the majority. The problem is everyone else is divided. More centrist people don’t want socialism, and the left hates centrist policy almost as much (or more) than they hate the right. If Democrats could all get on the same page with a centrist message they would crush Trump.

Yes it helps the rich more. But you can argue taxing the rich less means they have more money to pay their employees etc. It has a trickle down effect often.
In wrestling I am not sure if people are ware but always every superstar you love and cheer is largely Republican and cheer Trump.

Right now Democrat’s are split. Bernie supporters hate everyone else and bash them all the time. So no one else looks great. As terrible as Trump is the a Republicans all back him lock step simply because they care about winning.

Trickle down economics works, just not the way it is used. Both parties essentially only care about half the Keynesian economic model. It is supposed to be tax the wealthy when times are good, run a surplus and save that for when times are bad, then when a recession hits cut taxes to allow businesses more capital to stimulate the economy. The right wants less taxes all the time, but don’t cut spending, and the left just wants more taxes all the time and more spending.
Many Bernie supporters want Trump because they want to force people to accept their ideas essentially all or nothing.

Beyond that the whole problem in the US is a system of voting that allows for only 2 choices. It turns people into single issue voters, allows candidates to run to the extremes in the primaries then be the only choice in the general election.

Fair enough. But the Trump tax cuts in combination with the tarrifs have raised taxes on most Americans. Anything you got in your cut is nullified through the tarrifs that Americans pay. It’s a hit to everyone who isn’t rich.
